He has performed deeds 10,000 times as bad – the existing assessment of casualties from his cuts to foreign assistance is 600,000 and increasing, and this week an analysis forecast his energy policies would cause deaths an additional 1.3 million. However nothing as distinctive. No other president would have attempted – genuinely, no former commander would have contemplated – unilaterally destroying large sections of the executive mansion in order to erect a palace-inspired entertainment space, with the enthusiastic participation of some of the richest Americans, nearly all of which conduct transactions with the government.

We have witnessed over the years while conservative evangelical congregations transformed the Christ we grew up with into the total contrary of our understanding of him. Fundamentally, they converted a persona of compassion into an icon of hate who approves specifically the brutality that he criticized in the Gospel; this change developed more gradually, through multiple decades instead of months, yet it remains unsettling through similar means, a disorienting gut punch for countless people.
A Damaging Christianity Establishes Itself
So let me first describe the Jesus that I grew up with, because theoretically Jesus is the center of any Christian faith, and since the rapidly expanding group within America could have minimal awareness about him as they consider themselves atheists or uncertain individuals or religiously unaffiliated. I take no issue with any of these traditions, nor with alternative spiritual paths; but I do think that exist valuable insights of great price within Christian narrative.
